What we do

Grants that reach people in need

Tithe Charitable Trust makes grants and provides other finance so children, older people, and people with disabilities can access education, relief from poverty, and practical support in England, Wales, India.

Our work

Four purposes, one grant-making trust

The Charity Commission classifies our work as makes grants to individuals and provides other finance. Those gifts support education and training, the prevention or relief of poverty, disability, and general charitable purposes.

How we work

A grant-making foundation

We do not run trading subsidiaries. Three unpaid trustees oversee the charity. Gifts are used to make grants and provide other finance, so help can reach people in need.

Makes grants to individuals

Support goes to people who need education, a way out of poverty, or help living with disability — not to a chain of programmes in between.

Provides other finance

Where a grant is not the right tool, the trust can provide other finance so the same purposes still reach children, older people, and the public.

Grants to individuals

Support that goes to people, not programmes

Making grants to individuals is a core activity of Tithe Charitable Trust. A grant can fund education, relieve poverty, or help someone live with disability with greater dignity.

That is how a gift given in the United Kingdom can become practical help for a child, an older person, or a family in England, Wales, India.

Our purposes

Education, relief, and dignity

The Register of Charities lists these themes alongside general charitable purposes. Each one shapes who we help and how grants are used.

Relief of poverty

Preventing and relieving poverty is a core purpose of the trust. Grants help people who need food, shelter, or a way to get back on their feet.

People the trust’s disability support is intended to reach

Disability support

We help people with disabilities live with greater dignity, alongside our wider work for children, older people, and the public.

Who we help

People the register says we exist for

The Charity Commission records our beneficiaries as children and young people, elderly people, people with disabilities, the general public.

Children and young people

Grants can support learning, training, and a safer start when a family cannot meet those costs alone.

Elderly people

Older people are named on the public register, so support can reach those facing poverty, isolation, or disability later in life.

People with disabilities

Disability is both a theme of our work and a group we exist to help, so grants can fund practical support and greater dignity.

The general public

General charitable purposes mean help is not limited to one group when a grant would relieve hardship in the community.

Where we work

Support in England, Wales, and India

Grants are made so help can reach people in each recorded area of operation. Our registered office is in the United Kingdom.

England

Our registered office is in Horndon-on-the-Hill, and England is a core area of the charity’s work.

Wales

Wales is listed alongside England on the public register, so support can reach people across both nations.

India

The charity also works in India, extending education, poverty relief, and disability support beyond the UK.
